so i'm at work. some guy comes to the desk to buy himself a snack. he pays for his various items and then says "oh i want to give you something". he hands me a little pamphlet about the merits of christ and walks out the door. turns and watches as i throw said pamphlet away. then he comes back and asks if my attitude is a reflection of the maarriott company as a whole and states that if that is the case he will no longer be staying in our hotels. feeling more than a little annoyed i manage to keep my composure and point out that solicitation of any kind will not be tolerated(we have a sign) and that yes this counts. he left vowing to never come back to this hotel untill i'm removed from my position. wow....just wow.

been at work since 8:00 this morning. still have more than two hours to go. there's no customers, nothing on tv and i forgot to bring something to read. i've pretty much been dicking around on the net since 1030 this morning and now i'm out of things to do, so i thought i would share my boredom with you, lj. oh well two more hours and then the christmas tradition my brothers and i have have kept going for a few years. beer and batman returns. yeah, we're lame.

steve's home. to celebrate we went out to shout in minneapolis. pretty cool piano bar. seven dollar cover was a bit much though. took the light rail up there. had quite a few pints o guiness. we put in a few requests to the pianists. they played a few for us, eleanor rigby, feel like makin love, the cheers theme song and i'm sure i'm leaving some out. we ended up staying till close so we missed the last train. grabbed some jimmy john's while we waited for a cab. the one we called for never showed up so we took the first one that came along thus cramming six of us into the same cab. pretty good time.
were you expecting more,

got pulled over on the way to work for doing 82 in a 70. worried i was going to be a few minutes late to work i stepped on the gas and blew down 35e weaving in and out of traffic. coming around the bend between diffley and yankee doodle i passed a cop. d'oh. didn't get a ticket though. i explained to him i was running late and he let me off with a warning. woohoo! however i was now 10 minutes late for work. d'oh. oh well i've got 12 hours overtime this week anyways so the bossman just didn't care.

two months since my last post. since then? well i've been to a bunch of local shows at the cabooze with j3, lil' t turned 8, i'm up to 49 beers in the beer tour at old chicago, sworn of liquor completely, went to harvest fest, alienated some friends and family, rekindled some friendships, dressed as part of the harry potter trio with ac and noley for the wookie halloween show, pondered the meaning of life, watched some movies, beat resident evil 4 for the wii, played a shit load of guitar and generally have tried to stay out of trouble. i might have missed a few events/happenings but such is life.
till next time,
dr jon

went to wisconsin for rage this past weekend. took jesse and i about five hours to get out to milwaukee. checked in at the hotel we were at and waited for meghan, ryan, shaun and justin to get there. after they got checked in and settled we started the "45 minute" trek to east troy. after hitting some construction zone/rush hour traffic it started to rain pretty hard so we stopped in mukawanago(aren't wisconsin city names fun?) to grab some ponchos at the local walmart. got outside after buying them and the rain stopped. we never did end up using them. stopped for some t-bell and some cash and hopped back on the road. only six miles to east troy, woo-hoo. we get about a mile or two from the exit we need and realize traffic is at a complete stand still. we ended up sitting on i-43 for a good 45 minutes or so. turned onto highway 120 and sat there for just as long. finally we make it to highway d where alpine valley sits only to sit there for another half hour or so. so we park and i'm starting to worry we're gonna miss rage. the show had a start time of 7pm and it's now almost 930 and queens of the stone age were the only opening band. we head down the super long path from the parking lot to the concert and luckily enough get there with enough time to grab everyone some beers and find a spot for the show. the spot we found was right next to a long muddy hill so we were entertained by people trying to climb up or down said hill, falling into the mud and sliding sloppily down. rage played a hell of a set. a little short but damn good. thought it was hilarious that they kept referring to the crowd in wisconsin as chicago. after they finished killing in the name of we hung out for a few minutes to see if they'd do a second encore. no such luck and we prolly shoulda just dipped the second they said thank you due to the fact that now 36000 other people were leaving this venue with one exit. we were stuck in the freaking parking lot for almost an hour and a half trying to track down jolene who needs a ride. we get out of there(still no sign of her) and head back towards milwaukee. we get about a third of the way back when she calls. back to east troy we go. we pick up jolene and head back getting into milwaukee about 230am. we then proceed to hang at the hotel while jesse heads into town for some pizza. pretty uneventful for the rest of the night. we checked out the next morning and left for minnesota. stopped in madison for some lunch and a few drinks. we hit a gas station a few miles south when i decide hey i'm gonna buy a six pack and drink the rest of the way home. the only downside to this plan? poor jesse had to stop every 60 miles so i could relieve my beer filled bladder. as we're cruising up i-90 we decide to call strack and stop for a beer in austin. no answer from dan so we decide if he hasn't called before we get to rochester we'll just stop for a drink there and let everyone stretch their legs a bit. we get to rochester and whaddayaknow danny boy calls us. so we hop back in the car and cruise over to austin. met up with dan at his place and headed out to godfathers for some zza and some brews. hung out for a couple of hours and chatted headed back to the car and stopped to say hello to manda and susie. then headed back to say hi to his lil bro who is not quite as lil as he was last time i saw him. we finally got back to the cities around 11pm, dropped of jolene and went to carbones for a night cap. ran into my dad and some other bar regulars, hung for a little while and headed home for some much needed shut eye. pretty good weekend all in all and now less than 2 weeks to harvest.

fourth of july was fun. got up around noonthirty and showered. headed out to my ma's place for a lil bbq fun. had a squirt gun fight. had a lil slip n slide action. played in the rain for a while. drank some beers. ate a shit load of fruit pizza(and other food but mostly fruit pizza). lit off some fireworks. the only bummer? had to work at eleven. i'm almost half way through the shift and tired as tired can be. oh well.

roger waters was a freaking blast. he played a lot of tunes i wasn't expecting to hear(fletcher memorial home cole? did he really play it? am i really the ghost of jon?) which was quite all right with me. it was probably the best concert i've seen in my life. wasn't fun wandering the streets of st. paul looking for the car though. yeah we highassed the car. we did find it eventually. good times.
that's all i got,
dr jon
